Key West Boat Race Week 2026: A Practical Guide to the Week Ahead

If the boat races are on your list this week, start with the day you want to watch and work backward from there. A little planning around the waterfront and the evening street closures can make the outing much simpler, whether you live here or are visiting.

Race World Offshore lists the Key West World Championship for November 1–8, 2026, with racing scheduled for Wednesday, November 4; Friday, November 6; and Sunday, November 8. Those are the three dates to put on your calendar. Organizer’s event overview.

The opening parade was scheduled for Sunday, November 1, at 4 p.m. As we begin Monday, the useful focus is the racing and waterfront activity still ahead. City event authorization.

Which days should you plan around?

You do not need to organize your entire week around the event. Choose the day that fits your plans, check the latest official schedule, and leave some room around it rather than fitting a waterfront visit between tight appointments.

Keep the Race World Offshore schedule handy for race order, gate times and updates. A calendar date is a useful starting point; it is not a promise that a particular boat or class will be racing when you arrive. Check again before leaving home, especially if you are coming for one particular part of the program.

Where should you plan to watch from land?

RWO directs spectators to Truman Waterfront Park and the Outer Mole. Plan around the organizer’s marked spectator access rather than assuming every waterfront path or open patch of shoreline is available for watching. RWO event information.

Before heading out, review the event map, admission arrangements and permitted-item rules. If someone in your group needs accessible access, confirm the arrangements with the organizer in advance rather than relying on a general park map.

My suggestion is to keep the day comfortable and uncomplicated: wear shoes you can walk in, plan for sun protection, and check the entry rules before packing a bag. Choose a meeting point with your group, and leave yourself time to enjoy the visit without having to hurry back across town.

How should you plan the trip?

Before deciding to drive, check current parking and access arrangements. Consider walking where practical, a rideshare, or public transit, and plan the return trip as well.

For transit, check the City’s current route information and fare page. Keep your plan flexible around street closures and follow posted directions when you arrive.

Which evening street closures should you know about?

The City approved these race-week closures, both from 6–10 p.m.:

  • Thursday, November 5: Greene Street between Duval and Ann streets.
  • Friday, November 6: Duval Street between Front and Angela streets, plus Greene Street between Telegraph Lane and Simonton Street.

These are worth noting even if you are only heading into Old Town for dinner, work or an errand. Choose your approach and pickup point with the closed blocks in mind. City’s approved closure details.

Pick a day, check the official updates, and make a simple plan for getting there and back. That leaves more of the day for the reason you came: watching the boats.

Dates and access arrangements can change. Confirm the latest organizer and City notices before traveling.
